Members of the TMRA routinely provide communication services for local running marathons, bikeathons, and parades. TMRA members also provide communications and financial support for Short Wave Santa (sponsored by Toledo Radio Amateur Club {TRAC}) and the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES).

The TMRA sponsors a number of scholarships at local colleges. Two $500 scholarships are made available through the University of Toledo and two similar scholarships are available through Owens Community College. Three smaller awards are made available each year to participants in the High School Science Fair conducted at the University of Toledo.

The TMRA has provided all branches within the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library system with complete amateur radio license study manuals and guides, and related communication books printed by the American Radio Relay League. Two or three branch libraries are chosen each year to receive an updated set of manuals.

Through the backing of the ARRL, the TMRA has taken on the responsibility of financially supporting a local Volunteer Examination group for Northwest Ohio. A number of our members have received the accreditation to be a Volunteer Examiner.

For many years, the TMRA has sponsored entry level amateur radio classes free of charge to interested persons living in the community. Volunteer instructors from within the membership conduct the classes and the club assumes the cost of materials provided to the students. Class size has ranged from as low as 10 to more than 30 students. Classes are usually conducted one night a week for a period of 8 - 10 weeks. Typically there is one class offered in the early Spring and another class in the early Fall. Occasionally a more advance course is offered to assist those interested in upgrading their operation license classification. This class is usually offered every two or three years depending upon interest and need.
